Patients require a GP referral to the service where cardiac testing will be bulk billed. Once our team received your referral testing can be arranged within one week (prioritised by urgency) with referrers receiving report within 48 hours of testing.
Clinical Indications for Stress Echocardiography
- Situations where the ECG is abnormal such as LBBB, RBBB, LVH, LVH with Strain WPW.
- Coronary artery disease diagnosis (i.e. suspected angina).
- Menstruating women or women on HRT (high false positive rate on stress testing).
- Patients with Hypertension (high false positive rate on stress testing).
- Evaluation for cardiac aetiology of exertional dyspnoea.
- For patients who cannot exercise (dobutamine stress echo).
- Prior submaximal stress ECG (dobutamine stress echo available).
- Prior false positive or false negative stress tests or patients in whom the stress test yielded ambiguous results (equivocal or weakly positive result).
- Evaluation after any form of revascularisation.
- Ischaemia location.
- Pre-operative risk assessment.
- Prognosis and risk stratification in patients with established diagnosis (e.g. after myocardial infarction).
- Evaluation of heart valve stenosis severity or left ventricular functional residue in regurgitant lesions.
