Louise is an experienced colorectal and general surgeon. She has recently established a new practice, Coastal Colorectal, because she is passionate about moving away from the traditional surgeon-led scenario toward a more equal partnership that empowers her patients.

She is excited to offer this approach to the Mid North Coast and she is now consulting and operating at Forster Private Hospital.

Louise graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2003 and completed her surgical training in Brisbane followed by colorectal fellowships in Newcastle, Christchurch, and the UK. As well as her colorectal and general fellowships she has a Masters in Minimally Invasive Surgery, and an Associate Fellowship in Medical Administration.

Louise is an experienced endoscopist with advanced skills in gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and haemorrhoid treatment. She also specialises in all aspects of colorectal surgery including minimally invasive surgery for diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and bowel cancer, as well as pelvic floor disorders. She is also trained in general surgery and highly experienced in minimally invasive procedures such as hernia repair and gallbladder removal.

She divides her time between Newcastle and Forster where her extended family live. Louise welcomes new referrals and is always happy to consult on a case. She can be contacted via her rooms for any pre or post referral queries.
