Cape Hawke Health - Rehab Unit Upgrades with thanks!

Rehabilitation patients are looking forward to utilising the very best in new technology with equipment provided by the efforts from a wonderful group of ladies raising money to support our rehab services in our community.

There is a wonderful committee of local ladies that have banned together to bring some fun events to our town all while raising funds to support the Rehabilitation Services for our patients in our surrounding community.

The Committee is made up of local passionate women all wanting to make a difference in our community. And, they are doing just that and bringing joy to many while recovering as patients in hospital or as day patients utilising the day patient services.

Fran Hanson, Susan Lee, Julie Henry, Susan Stewart, Margaret LeRougetel, Carol Barclay and Deb Lawson are names most of our locals will know and love. This committee have planned and executed some amazing events to date that have contributed to the equipment on the rehabilitation ward at Forster Private Hospital, donating to Cape Hawke Health.

Pictured here with our Regional CEO, Deanne Portelli, Exercise Physiologist, Daniel Lawton and Nurse Unit Manager, Leah Muntz. Proudly standing behind just two of the first of many pieces of equipment we look forward to welcoming to the ward.

So far the ladies have had successful event such as;

  • High Tea
  • 3 x Movie Nights
  • Long White Lunch
  • Cocktail Auction

Raising approximately $10,000+ to date, we've been lucky enough to get a brand new, state of the art exercise bike, a new Sarah Steady chair, Apple TV for the gym as well as the latest in technology - a Dynamometer which is a muscle strength tester and also tests range of motion. All of these have been put to good use for patients rehabilitating from Parkinson's, stroke and various joint surgeries.

NEW SMART TV's

Our most recent update, thanks to the fundraising is all new, larger TVs for each rehab unit room. The smart TVs have been installed.

Thanks to Ted's Electrical for the big job of installing all the new TVs that were provided from our local Harvey Norman store. The reviews and feedback from the patients has been very positive. Some rehab patients spend extended periods of time recovering with us and miss their favourite shows, not anymore as these smart TVs allow them to access their regular programs.

We can't thank the committee enough for their hard work and dedication to providing not only fun events to our locals but also providing equipment from all the funds raised, that allows our community to stay close to home and rehabilitate back into their homes and environment confidently.

We are very excited about the upcoming events and hope to see you there!
