How long have you worked for Healthe Care?

I have worked at Forster Private since January 2017

What is your current role?

Started out at Forster as a Casual RN in both wards, then found my ‘home’ in Rehab. I now work as a PPT RN on the Rehabilitation ward.

No

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love Nursing! In previous hospitals before moving to Forster, I found my niche in Rehabilitation Nursing. I love seeing the improvement in my patients. I love the fact that we encourage them to do as much as they can for themselves. I enjoy supporting the new Nurses who join our team, I love seeing them grow in confidence as they find their way

How does your role contribute to positive patient experiences and/or outcomes?

Our Nurses can play a major role in improving patient outcomes by putting our patients at ease by delivering compassionate care. When we, as Nurses, gain our patients trust, they are more likely to open up about their level of pain, discomfort and worries. Always talk to your patients in language they understand, ensure their safety and keep a positive attitude

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received and would like to pass on to your colleagues?

The best advice I could pass on is to never stop learning. Never stop being compassionate. If it gets to a point that you feel the love of nursing is gone, make a change …… Also leave home at home and work at work.

What do you love most about living/working on the Mid North Coast?

What's not to love about our life on the Mid North Coast. We moved here in 2017, after buying our Forever Retirement Home .We live on 34 acres at Whoota, enjoying the space ,the gardens, and the view over Wallis Lake……a great place to spend our time .We also enjoy being out on the water with our Kayaks …..It’s also great to be able to work in a Profession I love .The drive around the Lake to and from work and a great way to unwind.
